Join The Club

We invite anyone interested in off-roading adventures to come out and join the club. We have several events that are open to the public during the year. Check the events page and join us for a ride. Come out and meet a fun group of people who enjoy getting out in the woods or meeting up at one of the Off road parks in lower Michigan. As a member, we also have “members only” events that are usually longer trips, sometimes out of state, such as Windrock Park in Tennessee or camping and trekking across the upper peninsula.

The club is also involved in several community service events during the year. In April we join forces with the Allegan ORV and Snowmobile Association and the DNR and spend a Saturday picking up trash in the Allegan Forest / Game Area. We have also in the past held Go Topless day events in association with Extreme Terrain and in December we do a toy drive usually at Menards on Gull Rd in Kalamazoo. Proceeds from the Go Topless day event are used to sponsor kids to go to the Great Lakes Burn Camp for Kids located at Pretty Lake camp in Mattawan MI. The toys collected at the toy drive are donated to the Gospel Mission of Kalamazoo.

The club is affiliated with several other groups dedicated to the off-road community including Great Lakes Four Wheel Drive Association, Tread Lightly and The Blue Ribbon Coalition. These groups, with financial assistance from clubs and individual memberships, as well as donations, promote safe and sustainable off-roading and will also lobby federal, state and local government bodies to keep trails and riding areas open for our sport.

About Us

A little history

The club started in April 1976 as a group of folks who loved the sport and concentrated mostly on 4x4 racing activities. Eventually, the love for racing faded and the club found themselves enjoying the trail rides and other aspects of four-wheeling.

Sundowner's was chosen because the club realized that every time they went four-wheeling, intending to be home before dinner, they found themselves out, long after sundown, trying to get themselves out of whatever predicament they were in.
